Use Your Stash – Christmas Card

Use Your Stash on a Christmas Card | Kalyn Kepner

Hey friends! I’ve got a brand new video and Christmas card to share with you today! I’m so excited to be on break from school and have lots of crafty time to create! It’s just the best feeling.

So, I had lots of Christmas cards to make this year and wanted to use up lots of my older collections that I’ve been saving. And what better way to do it than make some adorable patterned paper trees? Take a look at the process video I made below (or on my YouTube channel) to see how it came together!

That’s it for today’s card! I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season as much as I am and that you’re getting to squeeze in some crafty time along the way!

Using Scraps on a Card

Hey crafty friends! Hope this week is treating you well! We’re halfway done already! It’s my first week back at graduate school and I already feel really busy, but I’m also filled with ideas and inspiration. So, it’s a win-win. Today I wanted to pop in and share my latest Paper Smooches video tutorial that I created!

This one is all about using the scraps you have on hand to make a new card! I keep a fairly messy desk (who doesn’t really?), so there are always tons of scraps laying about. When I saw a particular grouping, I immediately knew they’d work together and so a video was born! 🙂

Watch it below or go over to my YouTube channel to watch it with all the product links in the description box below the video!

Teaching at Big Picture Classes

Hi friends! You might be able to tell by the title of this blog post (hehe), but I have some mega-exciting news to share today! I’m going to be teaching my first class with Big Picture Classes! What?!? Crazy, I know. I can’t believe it and it’s most definitely a dream come true.

Sharing my love for paper crafting is why I love blogging and making videos so much, so to be able to teach an entire class with such an amazing company is just a hugely exciting opportunity for me! And the best part is, my class starts next week! So we don’t have long to wait before the fun begins! My class is going to be called Card Styles and we’re going to explore four awesome styles of cardmaking. I’ll share tons of tips, techniques, inspiration and of course, videos on how to create in each style! It has been so much fun to work on at the staff at Big Picture Classes is amazing to work with.

Click the image below to take a look at the class page for a preview of what’s to come!

In case you haven’t explored the Big Picture Classes site before or you haven’t taken a class there, it’s super easy. You can easily sign up for a free trial and explore all the classes you want and then when you decide to sign-up (because you definitely will not want to miss out on the awesome stuff happening over there) it’s just $9.95 a month for all the classes you want to take! You can work at your own pace and learn about Scrapbooking, Mixed Media, DIY, Cardmaking and more. There are galleries, groups, message boards and a store to buy supplies in! Plus the website is beautiful and easy to use (something I really appreciate when I’m signing up for online classes).

Plus, Big Picture is celebrating 100 classes on their site and doing an awesome giveaway this month. When you sign up for the free trial, you are entered to win 1 year of free classes! Whoa. Think of all the amazing projects and new techniques you could create in one year! So now’s the time. The giveaway ends on 8/31, so you can sign up for the free trial, take my class and enter. 🙂 Sounds like a plan to me!

Thanks so much for supporting my blog and my crafting along the way. I’ve enjoyed every second of it for the past 8 years and can’t image my life without this fulfilling and inspiring hobby.

Much love,

Colorful Feathers Card & Monthly 5 Favorites

Hey friends! I hope you’re finding the beginning of August to be full of summer fun. I’m currently at the beach for a week and loving every minute of it. There’s nothing like waking up, having tea out on a balcony with the ocean breeze on my face. I’m so grateful for the time spent relaxing in such a calming location.

But before I go back into relaxation mode, I wanted to share what I’ve been up to lately! I created two new videos, a card tutorial and my July Monthly 5 Favorites video! Here’s the Colorful Feather Card that I created:

Layered Office-Inspired Card

Hi friends! I’ve got another Paper Smooches card video to share! I’m really loving creating video content, so I hope you like it too! I created this one for the Virtual Smooches blog (your one-stop-shop for all kinds of Paper Smooches tutorials and how-to’s). For this card, I used the Just a Note stamp set as well as the Butterfly Duet die set and some Crate Paper embellishments. I love their Notes & Things collection, so I was really inspired by that to create this card.

You can watch below or over on my YouTube channel where all the supplies are linked below the video.

Pinterest-Inspired Floral Thanks Card

Hey there! Hope you had a happy July 4th weekend! And also hope that you enjoyed watching the US Women’s soccer team win the World Cup last night! I’m not a major soccer fan, but it was so dang cool to see those women achieve such an honor.

But anyhoo, I’ve got a card and video to share today! It’s up on the Virtual Smooches blog as well if you want to go check it out there! I used this Pinterest image as my inspiration for this card and used all dies to create it.

Pinterest-Inspired Paint Stamping Card

Hi friends! Hope your week is going swimmingly well so far! I’m feeling busier than ever even though I’m really not because I’m only working 2 days a week and I don’t have kids. Ha! So yeah, I need to step it up if I’m feeling busy at this point in life. 🙂

Anyhoo, I’m feeling busy with all good things and for that I’m so grateful. I’m really loving what I’m doing in both career and in hobby life, so what could be better? Today I’m sharing a Paper Smooches video tutorial for a Pinterest-inspired card. I used the Positive Strokes Two stamp set and the Happy Birthday Words die set to create this. I love creating Pinterest-inspired crafts because it helps me get out of my comfort zone and explore new techniques.

I found this particular image on the A Beautiful Mess blog. Has anyone else been a reader since the Love, Elsie scrapbooking days? I have and it’s been so cool to see Elsie’s and her sister’s business evolve. Anyhoo, I digress. I found this gorgeous image on there, pinned it and created a card inspired by the painting. Watch below or over at YouTube to see how it all came together!

Embossed Vellum Wedding Card

Hey there, friends! Hope you’re having a happy Wednesday so far! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that a new card tutorial video went up on the Virtual Smooches blog on Monday and I wanted to share it with you!

Since wedding season is upon us, I thought I’d create an elegant wedding card and incorporate some embossing techniques. I heat embossed on vellum and love the result. It reminds me of lace!

Check out the video below or on my YouTube channel to see how it all came together!

Hope you enjoyed it and that you’ll give embossing on vellum a try! Do you have a favorite technique to use on wedding cards? I’d love to know!
