Embossed Vellum Wedding Card

Hey there, friends! Hope you’re having a happy Wednesday so far! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that a new card tutorial video went up on the Virtual Smooches blog on Monday and I wanted to share it with you!

Since wedding season is upon us, I thought I’d create an elegant wedding card and incorporate some embossing techniques. I heat embossed on vellum and love the result. It reminds me of lace!

Check out the video below or on my YouTube channel to see how it all came together!

Hope you enjoyed it and that you’ll give embossing on vellum a try! Do you have a favorite technique to use on wedding cards? I’d love to know!

I used the Promenade Icons die set, the Promenade stamp set and the Scripty Sayings stamp set. I wanted to create a letter/postcard look, so added a little stamp embellishment in the top right corner and a second sentiment in the return address area.

Hope you enjoy today’s hop! Thanks so much for stopping by!

The locker, envelope, smiley face, sentiments and circle stamps are all from the “Teen Routine” set from Paper Smooches. This set is so cute and reminds me of some fond school-time memories. One of my favorite parts of school was sending my friends notes, so I wanted to include that in this project. I stamped the envelope on white cardstock, cut a slit in the locker image and inserted the corner; add a little tape on the back and you’ve got mail! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this team!

Stamped Snails Card

Hey there! You probably thought I ditched my blog entirely after not posting for a few days. (Insert embarassed face here). But I’ve actually just been busy after work almost every night with one thing or another. But there is a lot of fun coming to the blog for the rest of the month and I can’t wait to share what it is! One new thing that’s pretty exciting is that I’ve finally purchased my domain name. So you can now go to paperislove.com and you’ll end up right here. It’s less typing, at least. 🙂

Today I’m sharing a really simple card that I’ve been holding on to for a while. Sometimes I make a card, submit it a few times, but never show it on the blog in hopes of submitting it that final time and it getting in. But the time comes when a card has to go into “retirement,” even though it’s a bummer. So this is one of those cards. I love it and I’m glad to get to share it here:

So that’s it for today! I hope you have an awesome, crafty weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!

Wilson Designs April Release Day 1

Screen shot 2012-03-19 at 10.21.50 PM

Happy Tuesday! And welcome to Day 1 of Release Week! It's supposed to be another warm day here on the East Coast and I'm loving every second of it (especially since I know the 50's are coming back to haunt me soon). So I'm enjoying it while I can and plan on getting a nice run in after work today.

Now on to the Wilson Designs project! I stretched myself to go clean and graphic with this card today:

IMG_2140

IMG_2144

I layered a doily die cut from Spellbinders on top of a white card base with foam tape to give it a really subtle texture, but still keeping the very clean overall look. Then I stamped my images on patterned paper, trimmed them and adhered then on different levels (some with foam tape, some not) to give a varied look. The "beauty" stamp is masked from a larger sentiment.

So there you go! Hope you like it and be sure to visit the other Design Team Dolls' blogs to check out their cute projects and leave comments for your chance to win this set at the end of the week!

Springtime Thinking of You Card

Hey there! Have you ever spent 8 hours walking around a mall? Because that's what I did on Saturday. I haven't been shopping in such a long time and my wardrobe was dying for some new pieces. Luckily, I did get a couple of things to help spruce it up, but crazy prices limited my purchases big time (I'm talking to you, Madewell – I wanted that lacey shirt). So even though I did not buy the $88 lilac jeans I so desperately wanted, I left the mall with a new perspective about paper-crafting supplies. I mean, for a pair of $88 jeans, I could buy 88 pieces of patterned paper. That's a lot of cards.

Today's card is a clean and simple stamped card. The only non-simple part is that I fussy-cut the pink leaves and adhered them to the brown stamped branches.

Stamps: Hampton Art, Papertrey Ink

Ink: Clearsnap

I like the way the fussy-cut flowers have a tiny bit of dimension on the card, but if I were to do it again, I'd probably stamp the entire image in pink and then go over the branch sections with a brown pencil or marker. How do you like to stamp multi-layered image stamps? I always love knowing how other people tackle stamping challenges.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll be back here on Wednesday! Have a good one!

Woodgrain I Love You Card

Hey there! Hope you had a fun weekend! I can't say I took part in any Super Bowl related activities, but I did complete a 4-mile run on Sudnay (a slow run, but a run nontheless), which was pretty super in my opinion. I've never run over 3 miles on the road before and while it felt great at the time, my knees and ankles are now pretty upset with me. We're not speaking, actually.

But when I wasn't running this weekend, I was putting some time into making cards! I finally got out of a little rut I had been in for the last few weeks and made a few projects for the Paper Crafts Stamp It Cards submissions. Today I thought I'd share  a super simple Valentine that I made for a previous call.

Rainbow Flourish Birthday Card

Hey there! I hope you had a great weekend! I had a nice, crafty weekend working on some projects and enjoyed pretty much every second of it. Although, I did get a bit distracted yesterday watching the semi-finals of the US Open and witnessing an amazing victory by Novak Djokovic (my favorite player since last year's US Open). After he won Wimbledon earlier this summer, I made a little inspirational graphic with a quote from Djokovic in his post-match interview with John McEnroe. I thought I'd share it since it uses a few fun digital elements.

McEnroe asked him what the biggest difference has been in his game over the last year. And Djokovic said that he credits some of his success to improved shots, but that mostly it was a change in his mindset and that he finally believed he could win against top players. And clearly his belief in himself has given him the mental strength that he needs to succeed. I'm just so inspired by this idea and have really tried to take a note from Djokovic to believe in myself a little bit more. Very empowering. So, tonight he plays Rafael Nadal and I'm wishing him the best of luck for another win (which I think he will). But even if he doesn't, I'm still such a proud fan. 🙂

Sorry for all the tennis jabber, but I'm quite excited about it. 🙂 Now onto a card I made recently:

IMG_4949

Supplies

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper

Clear stamps: Layers of Color, Papertrey Ink

Brad: K & Co.

Rhinestones: Queen & Co.

This card turned out to be a little more neon than I wanted, but I think it would be good for the right person – someone who likes bright colors, preferably. 🙂 I took stamps from a few Layers of Colors sets to create this background – I find when I'm doing this, starting from the inside out is the best way to get an even design.

I hope you have a great start to the week! Thanks so much for stopping by!
