Butterfly Mom Card

Butterfly Mom Card | Kalyn Kepner

Hey friends! Hope you’re enjoying some post-holiday bliss! I know my guy and I are enjoying lots of craft/video game time and of course, catching up on the Star Wars movies, so that I can go see the new one.

I just wanted to pop in and share a card I made for my mom’s birthday using one of my favorite collections, Crate Paper’s Notes & Things. I also used the Paper Smooches “mom” stamp from the Word Up set.

I also wanted to let you know that I added a new Gallery page to my blog, so you can check out lots of my cards all in one spot! Hope you have a happy Monday!

Bold & Bright Hello Card

Hi friends! I hope you’re in the middle of a great week! I certainly am. I had a great day at my internship yesterday and will be working on creating some new card videos today!

But first I wanted to share a fun and bright card I made using older Studio Calico card kits. Most of the items I used came from the Roller Rink and 34th Street card kits, so if you have those, you could easily recreate this little guy!

I’m still a sucker for flair. I know it’s not as huge as it once was (evident by my massive collection of it that I hoarded for years), but I still love it for graphic-style cards.

So that’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this card and if you missed my first-ever Monthly 5 favorites video, be sure to go over to my YouTube channel and check it out!

Thanks so much,

Kalyn

Promenade Icons Card | Kalyn Kepner for Paper Smooches

I used the Promenade Icons die set, the Promenade stamp set and the Scripty Sayings stamp set. I wanted to create a letter/postcard look, so added a little stamp embellishment in the top right corner and a second sentiment in the return address area.

Hope you enjoy today’s hop! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gold Floral Wedding Card & Video

Hi friends! Happy Friday! Hope your week went well and you’re in store for a fun, relaxing weekend! I’m actually sick with a nasty head cold, so I’m not enjoying that so much. Just trying to rest up and get better as soon as possible.

On the bright side, I’ve got a new card and video to share with you today that went up on the Virtual Smooches blog on Sunday. I’m thinking ahead to wedding season and trying to get some cards ready in my stash. I wanted to go for a layered, collage-style card, but with an elegant twist. I heat embossed on vellum and then added washi tape and die cuts to finish it off. Watch the video below or over at my YouTube channel to see how it all came together:

I love the way this card turned out and the gold embossing on vellum is definitely a technique I’ll be coming back to. I think this card could also work for an anniversary occasion as well – why not? If you want direct links to all the products I used, check out the description box of my YouTube video and while you’re over there, subscribe! It’s free and you’ll get all my latest videos right in one place. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

For my card project, I used the Fancy Frames Icons dies. I paired two of them along with the Fancy Frames stamps (they fit perfectly together) and then die cut one frame using some fun BasicGrey patterned paper from their Knee Highs collection.

The “hello” sentiment I used is also from the Fancy Frames set and the little dotted stripe at the bottom is from the Borderlicious stamp set.

Hope you enjoy today’s hop – I know I will! I love seeing what the team comes up with! Your next stop is the fabulous Kay Miller!

B is for Boy Card

Hey there! Hope you had a great 4th of July (or just another great Wednesday if you live elsewhere)! It was nice to have a day off in the middle of the week to regroup and relax.

Today I’ve got a baby-themed card to share with you using papers and embellishments from My Mind’s Eye’s “Alphabet Soup” collection (which I’ve pretty much used to death – it’s so versatile!).

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper  Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket, My Mind’s Eye  Chipboard circles: My Mind’s Eye  Twine: Westrim  Buttons: Papertrey Ink  Star die cut: QuicKutz

I went a little crazy with the distressed paint look on this one (it was my first time using it – can you tell?), but I’ve since learned how to use paint in a more subtle way. I do like the mix of textures and patterns in this one – I always look for papers with distinct, but less in-your-face patterns for layering.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Stamped Snails Card

Hey there! You probably thought I ditched my blog entirely after not posting for a few days. (Insert embarassed face here). But I’ve actually just been busy after work almost every night with one thing or another. But there is a lot of fun coming to the blog for the rest of the month and I can’t wait to share what it is! One new thing that’s pretty exciting is that I’ve finally purchased my domain name. So you can now go to paperislove.com and you’ll end up right here. It’s less typing, at least. 🙂

Today I’m sharing a really simple card that I’ve been holding on to for a while. Sometimes I make a card, submit it a few times, but never show it on the blog in hopes of submitting it that final time and it getting in. But the time comes when a card has to go into “retirement,” even though it’s a bummer. So this is one of those cards. I love it and I’m glad to get to share it here:

So that’s it for today! I hope you have an awesome, crafty weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!

Guess Whoo Misses You Card

Hey there and Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend! Mine was pretty productive, which always feels great. I even completed a fun DIY that I found on the P.S. I Made This blog (I’ll share photos later). There also might have been some Copic marker shopping that happened this weekend and I may have added several new markers to my collection. 🙂

Today, I want to share a project I made using one of my favorite embellishments:

How cute is that felt owl by Maya Road? Definitely one of my favorites. This card appeared in the March 2012 issue of CARDS magazine, which you can buy online here (right now it’s on major clearance too!).

Did you do any shopping this weekend – crafty or otherwise? I always love to hear what other people shop for, is that weird? I didn’t think so. 🙂 Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Wilson Designs April Release Day 4

Hey there! So this is it! We've made it to Friday and to the full reveal of the April set from Wilson Designs. The name of this set is Glam Squad. And here's the full selection of images:

Girly stamp setbestpreview

And here's what I made for my final project:

For this card, I used the small row of circles and created a subtle, textured background (see pretty much every other card I've made for a reference on how much I love this technique). Then I paper pieced the lipstick image on some fun patterns for a girly look. I topped off the lipsticks with some Ranger Stickles glitter glue (I hoard this stuff like it's made with real gold), to give it a bit of sparkle and dimension.

So that's it for my release projects! Now on to the other members of the Wilson Designs DT:

Be sure to comment away for your chance to win this entire stamp set! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

St. Patrick’s Day Good Luck Card

Hey there! I can't believe I'm sitting here typing out this Friday blog post already. This week flew by and I think a big part of it has to do with the gorgeous weather we've had on the East Coast. It's been in the low 70's and I've been spending as much time outside as possible.

And we've hit the middle of March already, so that means St. Patty's Day is upon us! So today I have a fun Good Luck card that I made using some My Little Bicycle chipboard stickers:
