Eclectic Digits Card

Hey there! Hope you had a great start to your week! It’s been kind of dreary and cloudy here, but after a gorgeous, sunny weekend I can’t really complain. My boyfriend and I ran a 5k together, which was such a rewarding experience. We’re both trying to get back in shape and it was a great feeling to check that off our list together.

On to today’s card! I created this funky little number (no pun intended, although it’s a great one if you ask me. Hehe) using the Digits stamp set from Paper Smooches and some Crate Paper paper and Studio Calico papers and embellishments. The “uber cool” sentiment is from the Paper Smooches Slang Gang set.

I showed this to my mom and her friend and her friend said, “I don’t get it. A camera and a feather? I’m confused.” I tried to explain to her that they’re just trendy motifs right now and that the feel of this card is meant to be just whimsical, collage-y fun. So while it might not be for everyone, I’m really embracing the “freestyle collage” style right now and I find these type of cards so easy (and fun!) to create.

What’s your take on the freestyle collage style? Love it or hate it? Either way, be sure to check out the Digits and Slang Gang sets in the Paper Smooches store tomorrow! There are coordinating and matching dies that go with the Digits set, so you’re in for a treat.

Have a great day,

I’m Impressed Card

Who knew that household chores could actually be fun? Okay, well they aren’t actually. But, the new “Squeaky Clean” stamp set from Paper Smooches definitely makes them look a lot more fun. Be sure to go check out the set here.

Kim featured one of my cards using “Squeaky Clean” yesterday on the Paper Smooches blog, so I thought I’d share it here today.

Cardstock: Bazzill Card Shoppe, Patterned paper: Crate Paper, My Mind’s Eye, Sassafras  Stamps: Paper Smooches “Squeaky Clean” set  Markers: Copic  Dye ink: Ranger  Twine: The Twinery

For this card, I really wanted to incorporate different textile patterns that you might see on clothing to reiterate the ironing idea. I also think the little shirt stamp is just dying to be repeated and made into its own little background element, so I incorporated that as well. 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wilson Designs June Release Day 3

Hey there! Welcome to Day 3 of the Wilson Designs June Release! I’m excited to share this next card with you as it’s one of my favorites that I created with this set. I’ve become quite addicted to incorporating gradients in my projects lately – from ink colors to cardstock colors and anything else you can think of. So I wanted to create a little matryoshka trio using a pink gradient effect:

And there you have it! Be sure to check out my fellow Design Team members and see what awesome creations they’ve come up with:

Wilson Designs June Release Day 2

Hey there! Hope you’re having a great week so far – we’re halfway to Friday already! Today’s Day 2 of the Wilson Designs June release, so let’s get started. Here’s my latest card project using the June set:

I did a little paper piecing with one of the matryoshka dolls and then stamped the sentiment and flowers in a subtle brown ink to give it that watermark look (I’m loving this technique lately).

Be sure to make your way over to the other girls on the Design Team and see what they’ve created with this set! And don’t forget to leave comments on everyone’s posts to enter for a chance to win this set.

Thanks so much for stopping by and stop back tomorrow for another Wilson Designs release and another fun post that I’m excited to share!

Stamped Snails Card

Hey there! You probably thought I ditched my blog entirely after not posting for a few days. (Insert embarassed face here). But I’ve actually just been busy after work almost every night with one thing or another. But there is a lot of fun coming to the blog for the rest of the month and I can’t wait to share what it is! One new thing that’s pretty exciting is that I’ve finally purchased my domain name. So you can now go to paperislove.com and you’ll end up right here. It’s less typing, at least. 🙂

Today I’m sharing a really simple card that I’ve been holding on to for a while. Sometimes I make a card, submit it a few times, but never show it on the blog in hopes of submitting it that final time and it getting in. But the time comes when a card has to go into “retirement,” even though it’s a bummer. So this is one of those cards. I love it and I’m glad to get to share it here:

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper

Patterned paper: October Afternoon, Sassafras

Snail Stamp: Inkadinkado

Sentiment stamp: Papertrey Ink

So that’s it for today! I hope you have an awesome, crafty weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!

Guess Whoo Misses You Card

Hey there and Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend! Mine was pretty productive, which always feels great. I even completed a fun DIY that I found on the P.S. I Made This blog (I’ll share photos later). There also might have been some Copic marker shopping that happened this weekend and I may have added several new markers to my collection. 🙂

Today, I want to share a project I made using one of my favorite embellishments:

How cute is that felt owl by Maya Road? Definitely one of my favorites. This card appeared in the March 2012 issue of CARDS magazine, which you can buy online here (right now it’s on major clearance too!).

Did you do any shopping this weekend – crafty or otherwise? I always love to hear what other people shop for, is that weird? I didn’t think so. 🙂 Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Wilson Designs May Release Day 2

Back again for Day 2 of Wilson Designs May Release Week! For this project, I used the same main stamp as the first card, but wanted to go for a very clean and graphic look. Here's my attempt:

I used some white embossing powder to make the car stand out and black dye ink for the sentiment – love that font on the word "classic."

Check out what the rest of the team did for their Day 2 projects:

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you back here tomorrow for Release Day 3! Have a good one.

For this blog hop, the 10 of us are sharing projects we made with the theme of…10! How'd you guess? 🙂 I chose to make a 10th anniversary card because it really is the 10th anniversary of this issue AND my dear friend is actually celebrating her 10th anniversary with her husband this year.

Now on to the fun part! You have a chance to win your own FREE copy of Card Creations Vol. 10! All you have to do is leave me a commet on this post and I'll choose a random winner. Print Candee May Blog Hop

Hey there! Long time, no blog, I know. I've been so busy preparing for my upcoming cruise (in 12 days!!!) and finishing projects to post while I'm away. But it's been a fun (maybe interesting is a better word) exercise in how quickly I can create. This coming weekend will be my sprint to the finish to see how much crafting one person can really do in 2 days. And somehow I'll have to squeeze in a last-minute shopping trip (a girl needs white shorts for a cruise, am I right?).

Anyhoo, today I have a really fun Print Candee project to share with you. The awesome Creative Team Coordinator (and a sweet online friend of mine), Jocelyn Olson found a fun inspiration photo for the team to create cards based on.

We could choose any piece or aspect of the inspiration photo to create from and the multi-colored clutch in the right corner spoke to me immediately. So I came up with this:

I chose a bunch of different patterned papers that had colors close to the ones in the bag, then tweaked them here and there in Photoshop to get as close to the colors in the bag as possible. I also used a woodgrain patterned paper for the center embellishment to mimic the wooden clasp on the front of the bag. Then I topped it off with a little heat embossing with an American Crafts stamp.

Everything I used (except for the stamp, cardstock and embossing powder) is from the Print Candee site. Here's the specific list of patterned papers I used (in clockwise order):

Green floral

Blue dots

Blue stripes

Orange hexagons

Yellow grid

Pink umbrellas

Fuschia chevron

Now it's time to hop on to the next designer's blog! Here's the order of our hop:

Wilson Designs April Release Day 4

Hey there! So this is it! We've made it to Friday and to the full reveal of the April set from Wilson Designs. The name of this set is Glam Squad. And here's the full selection of images:

Girly stamp setbestpreview

And here's what I made for my final project:

For this card, I used the small row of circles and created a subtle, textured background (see pretty much every other card I've made for a reference on how much I love this technique). Then I paper pieced the lipstick image on some fun patterns for a girly look. I topped off the lipsticks with some Ranger Stickles glitter glue (I hoard this stuff like it's made with real gold), to give it a bit of sparkle and dimension.

So that's it for my release projects! Now on to the other members of the Wilson Designs DT:

Be sure to comment away for your chance to win this entire stamp set! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!
