Hey there! I just wanted to drop in and share a quick update post today! I’m excited to be choosing a “One Little Word” this year. In case you haven’t heard of it before, “One Little Word” is a concept/class/workshop developed by the super-inspiring Ali Edwards. I’ve always been a big fan of resolutions and then I tried doing a long list of yearly goals, but this year I wanted to try something new. And without a doubt, the word that came to me (let’s be real, my Mom had something to do with it) was “prepare”.
While I don’t think I’ll actually be making an album inspired by this word, I do think it will be the main focus for me this year. As a grad student who always has 50,000 things going on at once, I need to be better at planning, staying organized and anticipating what’s to come. So the word “prepare” is just perfect. If you haven’t heard of the Ali Edwards “One Little Word” class/workshop before, definitely check it out here.
So in honor of choosing my word and in wanting to keep it front and center, I decided to design a desktop wallpaper with it for my new iMac! I happened to be taking a class over at Skillshare (this one by Jamie Bartlett) and combined the class with making this design. If you want to try out Skillshare, you can hop over there and get a free trial by clicking here. It was so much fun learning how to create textures in Photoshop that I had no idea were at my disposal.
I guess that about wraps it up! I know this post wasn’t super craft-related, but I just wanted to share some things I’m loving lately: my One Little Word, Skillshare and getting things organized!
Hi there! Hope you’re enjoying this festive time of year! Even though I’m all about celebrating fall until December, I do love making Christmas cards early. They’re just so much fun and making them is probably my #1 way to get in the holiday spirit.
So today I’m sharing a Starbucks-inspired card using the Cool Cup Die-namics die set and the Stay Cool stamp set from My Favorite Things. These sets were designed by the oh-so-talented Laina Lamb and I love how they can be used for any time of year. I added the little heart circle icon from the Soda Pop stamp set.
I added some light inking to the top of my whipped cream die cut shape to give it some depth and I love the outcome. Then I topped off my cup with a bit of red baker’s twine!
Hope you enjoyed this little cup-o-cheer card! Be sure to check out the stamps and dies I used at mftstamps.com.
Hi there! I hope this Wednesday finds you in the middle of a great week. This is an exciting week for me as I’ll be heading to the National Stationery Show in New York City on Saturday! I’ve never been to the show and thanks to one of my super-talented professors, I’ll be able to attend for a day.
So let’s get rolling on to today’s card. I’ve got a Father’s Day card to share that would be perfect for the auto enthusiast in your life. My dad had a 1956 Chevy and this vintage car embellishment reminds me of it almost exactly. The paper and die cuts are from Crate Paper’s Open Road collection and I die cut the sentiment from my Silhouette using a simple font.
Speaking of Silhouette, have you heard about the new machines they’re releasing this fall? I’m so excited for that. That’s it for today’s card! I hope it gave you a Father’s Day idea! I’ll be back with more this week, so stay tuned.

I used the Positive Strokes Two set (an awesome larger version of the smaller original set with some extras thrown in) as well as a sentiment from Scripty Sayings and some enamel dots for a little texture. This set is so great for creating focal designs, like I did here, or for adding some nice distressing or subtle texture to other designs! The sky is the limit with sets like this, so it’s a must on your wish list.
That’s it for me today, time to hop on to Kay Miller’s blog! Thank you so much for stopping by and joining in the fun.
Hey friends! Happy Friday! I’ve got a different kind of post going on today and one that I’m excited to share! I’ve partnered with Uncommon Goods and compiled a Top 5 Gift Guide (for fellow crafters or for yourself)! If you haven’t heard of Uncommon Goods before, it’s a privately-owned retailer that features unique and handcrafted gifts and designs. It’s pretty much a candy store for crafty and creative types. They also have an awesome blog that features stories of the artisans and crafters that create their items as well as studio tours from their creators too!
I picked items that are different crafts that I’d love to try more of and would be super fun to do with a friend, your mom or kids! Speaking of mom, I think these would make awesome Mother’s Day gifts (it’s really not that far away). Check out Uncommon Goods curated Mother’s Day gift collection here. They also feature gifts for men and kids as well as personalized gifts here and birthday-specific gifts here.
If their gorgeous handmade designs weren’t enough, I love knowing that most of the products they carry are made in the USA and that they support Not-for-Profits like Women for Women International and RAINN. So cool products, plus great values equals a new favorite store for me.
Their studio and warehouse is in Brooklyn, NY and I’m definitely planning a visit the next time I’m in the city this spring. Hope you find some inspiration there and maybe even a gift!
Hello friends! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours! Even when I was single (for what seemed like forever haha), I still always enjoyed this day. Any day that is heavy on the card-sending is one for me. And who can’t love a day about love, am I right? Anyhoo, I’m excited to spend a special evening with my boyfriend tonight and get super dressed up for a fancy dinner. But even if you’re staying home in sweatpants (what will ensue shortly after the dinner), I hope you have a fantastic day full of love.
Today I’m sharing some Valentine’s I made over the last month or so. Hope you enjoy! And keep your eyes peeled for a new video coming to my channel tomorrow!
Most of these cards use Paper Smooches stamps and dies from recent releases. If you have any questions about the paper or supplies I used, just let me know in a comment below and I’ll get back to you in a jiffy!
Hi friends! Hope you’re enjoying the Christmas season (and Happy Hannukah today too)! I certainly am. Even though I’m still feeling the loss of Paper Crafts magazine and I’m missing submitting, I’m enjoying the time to reorganize and rethink my creative process.
At this point, I have several cards that were slotted for publication in upcoming issues of PC&S, so I’ll be able to share those with you here! First up is a Christmas card I created using my own cut file that I designed. I thought it would be fun to create a plaid texture and hadn’t seen many before, so gave it a whirl!
I used BasicGrey’s 25th and Pine collection as well as a Papertrey Ink sentiment stamp.
Click here to access and download the .png file that I used to create the plaid cut file. And leave a comment if you have any questions on how to use it!
If you decide to download and use the cut file, all I ask is that you link back to my blog or this post when you use it. Thanks so much and I’d love to see what you do with it!
Hi friends! Just popping in to share a card I made for the Moxie Fab World Tree-mendous Tree Challenge. I’ve always loved creating cards for the Moxie Fab World challenges and haven’t gotten to do nearly as many as I’d like. But given the sad news about our beloved magazine, I definitely wanted to participate to show my love. Today’s the last day to participate, but give it a shot and link up your favorite card featuring a Christmas tree!
Here’s what I came up with:
I used some of my favorite Papertrey Ink stamps and topped off the center tree with a button and some red baker’s twine. It was a super simple card to make and definitely one that could be easily mass-produced for sending.
Stay tuned for more projects (and hopefully a tutorial or two!) right here!
