Eastern Palace Card

Hey friends! Long time, no chat, I know! I’m finally graduated from my Master’s program and I’m so thrilled to be an “official” graphic designer now! It’s a dream come true and I really have cardmaking to thank for getting me into design and sparking my interest in the first place!

Today I’m sharing a card I made using the Stampin’ Up! Eastern Palace Premier Bundle. They were kind enough to send this to me to play with and it’s truly a gorgeous assortment of goodies. The dies were my absolute favorite part of this set, so I wanted to feature them on a card.

I added some of the patterned paper that comes in the set and some of the delicate gold foil stickers. I die cut the front piece from Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the sentiment in the new Fresh Fig ink color.

Definitely check out this set if you’re looking for some beautifully elegant options for all kinds of card occasions!

Happy crafting,

Layered Vellum Thank You Card

Hey there and Happy New Year! I just love the fresh start that a new year brings and I’m incredibly excited for 2017! This is the year that I’ll graduate from my Master’s Degree program and start my career as a graphic designer. The future is so uncertain, but I’m just enjoying this season of life and all the blessings I get to experience day by day.

I’ve got a clean and simple thank you card to share today. LCI Paper was kind enough to send me some of their Gmund Color System line of paper to experiment with, so I made this card using their Felt cardstock as a card base and three colors of Vellum cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment in white using a stamp from the Kelly Purkey Best Friends set (love this set so much, but I don’t think it’s available anymore). The embossing worked really well on the colored vellum and I just love the light and airy feeling the vellum gives even though the colors are very saturated.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope there is a lot of crafting planned for your 2017!

Thoughtful Branches Card

Hey there! I’m so happy to say that I’m back home from a summer away and back in my beautiful craft space. I haven’t been able to craft very much these last two months because of my internship, but I’m so glad to be back in my happy place now. I had an awesome summer, don’t get me wrong. But there’s nothing like getting back into your favorite hobby that just makes you feel…centered. Pretty deep for a Friday, I know.

So let’s get into today’s card! The awesome people at Stampin’ Up! sent me the adorable Thoughtful Branches bundle to play with and I had so much fun using it. Botanical sets are my favorite to use, so this one is going to get a lot of love from me in the future. It’s super versatile and the coordinating dies open up the options even more. Here’s what I created:

I made a subtle background pattern using two of the leaf stamps in the set and then stamped and die cut the tree trunk and leaves to add on top. I also added a little blue bird to the top of the tree (you get two birds in this set!). I finished off the stamping with one of the sentiments in the set and then added some buttons and a little patterned paper flag that matched my color palette!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and be sure to check out the Thoughtful Branches bundle while it lasts – the deal ends August 31st! All supplies I used are listed below!

Happy crafting,

Kalyn

I chose to use bright patterned papers from the Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine collection, which I just love as well as a strip of striped washi tape and some enamel dots. I got the postage stamp edge on the top piece of paper by using the Paper Smooches Borders 2 die set (a must-have if you don’t have it yet).

Happy Place Card

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you’re having a good start to the week! And I’m really hoping for some sunny and warm weather because it’s been chilly and rainy where I live for way too long.

I just wanted to pop in and share a card I made for Paper Smooches using the new Get Outta Town Icons die set. The set pairs with the Get Outta Town stamp set, of course, and I had fun making this card using the Open road collection from Crate Paper.

I die cut and stamped the suitcase image from cork paper, which is my new favorite thing. It’s just so fun to make your own custom embellishments with! And you can really stamp on it easily, as long as you’re using a dark or very pigmented ink color. Check the list of supplies I used below if you want to grab some of that cork for yourself!

So that’s it for today! I’m hoping to get back to filming some craft videos for my YouTube channel, so if there’s anything you’d like to see, let me know in a comment and I’ll add it to my list of videos to film!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Kalyn

I used the adorable Rain Boot die on my card and cut it out of Patterned paper. I wish I had these patterned boots in real life! They make me so happy. I love the fact that this die comes with a separate bottom portion of the boot, so you can use a contrasting color when you die cut. It also comes with raindrops! I chose to use little hearts as my raindrops and then added the sentiment from the Luminous Spring stamp set. (All supplies are linked at the end of this post!)

I also used the Waves border die to create the fun scalloped border and then added two more patterned papers below it!

So that’s it for today’s Blog Hop card! I hope you enjoyed it! Have a happy, crafty day!

My Favorite Things Cool Cup Card

Hi there! Hope you’re enjoying this festive time of year! Even though I’m all about celebrating fall until December, I do love making Christmas cards early. They’re just so much fun and making them is probably my #1 way to get in the holiday spirit.

So today I’m sharing a Starbucks-inspired card using the Cool Cup Die-namics die set and the Stay Cool stamp set from My Favorite Things. These sets were designed by the oh-so-talented Laina Lamb and I love how they can be used for any time of year. I added the little heart circle icon from the Soda Pop stamp set.

I added some light inking to the top of my whipped cream die cut shape to give it some depth and I love the outcome. Then I topped off my cup with a bit of red baker’s twine!

Hope you enjoyed this little cup-o-cheer card! Be sure to check out the stamps and dies I used at mftstamps.com.

Celebrating Cath & Technique Tuesday Blog Hop

Technique-Tuesday-Cath-Edvalson-Blog-Hop-Graphic
Hey there! I’m so excited today to be participating in a very special blog hop featuring brand new stamps and dies from the one and only Cath Edvalson! She’s teamed up with Technique Tuesday and had her own designs made into fantastic stamps and dies that I just love.
Most people know Cath as the former Creative Editor for Paper Crafts magazine and the writer of the Moxie Fab World blog. I was lucky enough to know Cath in real life when I met her during my internship at Paper Crafts in 2008. And she’s just as fun, sweet and creative as you’d imagine her to be! I spent a lot of time with her during my Utah adventure and she made me feel at home even though I was across the country from everyone I knew. I’ll never forget her kindness and the fun times we had together.
I just wanted to share that because it makes this blog hop extra special for me. To see a friend getting to experience such a fantastic creative opportunity is a joy. She deserves it and her designs are fantastic! So let’s get on to the hop, shall we?
Heart Thanks Card | Kalyn Kepner
I created this thanks card using the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set and the Garden Leaves die set. I stamped and heat embossed the heart stamp on watercolor paper then painted it with some Distress Inks and water. I die cut the leaf die out of teal cardstock and added those behind the heart. And of course added some rhinestones as a finishing touch!

Three winners will be chosen at random from all the comments left during the hop on all the blog stops. Using Scraps on a Card

Hey crafty friends! Hope this week is treating you well! We’re halfway done already! It’s my first week back at graduate school and I already feel really busy, but I’m also filled with ideas and inspiration. So, it’s a win-win. Today I wanted to pop in and share my latest Paper Smooches video tutorial that I created!

This one is all about using the scraps you have on hand to make a new card! I keep a fairly messy desk (who doesn’t really?), so there are always tons of scraps laying about. When I saw a particular grouping, I immediately knew they’d work together and so a video was born! 🙂

Watch it below or go over to my YouTube channel to watch it with all the product links in the description box below the video!
