Hi there! I hope you had a good weekend! Mine was interesting to say the least. On Saturday, I tried a new salon and got a haircut (4-5")that was supposed to be a hair trim (1-2"). So, now I have a completely new 'do. Surprise! Luckily, I went into the new salon experience knowing that anything could happen, so I'm not too torn up over it. It'll grow. I also had Saturday plans altered due to rain (two weeks in a row the rain followed Gina and I), but once again it all ended well with a fun night out. What was your weekend like?
In crafty news, the awesome new special issue from Paper Crafts, Card Ideas for Paper Crafters, is available to purchase! I was so excited to see it on the front shelf at my local Barnes & Noble this weekend. I felt like a proud mom. Weird? Perhaps. But definitely check it out at your local bookstore or order a copy online here.
This issue has a new title (formerly Go-To Sketches) and a new format – sketches were submitted from a larger group of designers, but still has the same great examples of how to make 4 cards from one sketch! It's such a great way to get the creative juices flowing and help you create when you're feeling uninspired.
Here's a card that I had in the issue and I actually created it using Anabelle O'Malley's sketch on page 110. Anabelle happens to be one of the paper crafters I've actually met in real life and who I just adore, so that just makes this card sketch extra special.
For this card, I created a tri-fold base with a pull out piece that can be used for a gift card. I adhered the two top flaps in a way that let's the gift card piece easily pull out. You can find the full supply list and instructions on page 110 and then check out 3 additional interpretations of this sketch on the facing page – it's so cool to see how other people interpreted the sketch and how different they all look! Other designers' creativity with these sketches just baffles me sometimes – I'm really in awe. So, you'll definitely want to check this one out!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in the sketchy fun with me. Who doesn't love a good sketch, right? I hope you had a fantastic weekend and here's to a new week!
