A Masculine Monday

Hey there and Happy Monday! I realize that it may seem odd to wish someone a "Happy Monday" given that most people dislike Mondays, but after reading the book "5" (watch the YouTube promo video here) and several others that have  a similar seize-the-day kind of message, I decided that Mondays are just as worthy of celebration as any other day, so why not be happy about them? :)

So, this past Saturday was my step-dad's birthday and I was faced with making the ever-challenging masculine card. Luckily, I had some pre-made cards and envelopes from Creative Imaginations on hand that were just dying to be made into a masculine-themed project. I was also recently inspired by a series that Ashley C. Newell did on her blog for the month of March focusing on masculine card-making tips and techniques. Ashley's truly a genius and her blog, photography and video tutorials are terrific – definitely check out her masculine projects here for some inspiration.

Here's the card I created for my step-dad:

SUPPLIES:  Card: Creative Imaginations  Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper  Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink, Technique Tuesday  Dye ink: Clearsnap  Watermark ink: Tsukineko  Embossing powder: Hampton Art  Buttons: Papertrey Ink  Floss: DMC

I went for a clean and simple approach with this and wanted the subtle touch of heat embossing with clear embossing powder. A few buttons and a banner-style sentiment and I was done!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a truly happy Monday!

Very nice idea for a CAS card. I may case you somewhat if you don’t mind! I love the simplicity, & I just love swirls.
