Hi there! I'm so excited to be participating in my very first blog hop and especially THIS blog hop that celebrates my favorite design element – color! So, I welcome you to my blog and to this fun hop with lots of inspiration and several chances to win prizes!
Today we're talking about Color Inspiration for Card Makers – the latest special issue from Paper Crafts magazine. They took 70 different color combinations and published 280 cards in a variety of styles and themes. This issue gives you inspiration and examples on how to play with the element of color in whatever way best suits your crafting style – genius, right?
My favorite part of working on this issue was really stretching myself to try new design techniques. To stay true to the 3 or 4 colors in each combination, I used a lot of cardstock instead of patterned papers to create my designs. I also didn't have a lot of pre-made focal points that matched the specific colors, so I created them myself using cardstock and paper piecing techniques. I definitely had to leave my comfort zone with my designing process, but I love a challenge and I learned so much from working on this issue.
Here's a new card that I created just for this blog hop in the color combination you see on the cover.
SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Doodlebug Designs, Wausau Papers, Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Hambly Screen Prints, BasicGrey Stamp: Papertrey Ink Buttons: craft store Rhinestones: Queen & Co Chipboard butterfly: BasicGrey Ink: Clearsnap
Nine very talented designers from this issue also created cards for this Color Inspiration Blog Hop, so make sure to take a look at their blogs here:
